The Al Ashkharah Festival 2026 has drawn over 14,000 visitors during its first week, solidifying its status as a key summer tourism event in Oman. Held annually in the Al Ashkharah governorate, the festival aims to boost domestic tourism, stimulate local economic activity, and showcase the cultural and touristic offerings of the region.

A prominent feature of this year’s festival was the women’s programme, which attracted significant attendance. The programme included interactive competitions, prize giveaways, theatrical performances, and entertainment shows. Additionally, a promotional film screened during the event highlighted both the tourism potential of Al Ashkharah and the festival’s objectives.

Visitors expressed positive feedback regarding the women-exclusive segment. Moza bint Salim al Kindi described it as a well-considered initiative, emphasizing the festival’s accommodation of community needs. She noted that the event creates a family-friendly environment with quality programming blending entertainment and Omani heritage, fostering a desire for repeated attendance and supporting the growth of domestic tourism through diverse activities suitable for all ages.

Another attendee, Amina bint Rashid al Ghailani, praised the festival’s comprehensive scope, which integrates educational, cultural, and commercial activities within one venue. She highlighted that visitors benefit not only from performances but also from opportunities to learn about government services, investment prospects, and community programs, making the event both engaging and informative.

The festival features participation from various government and private sector entities, enhancing the overall visitor experience. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is actively promoting Oman's travel destinations and unique tourism products. Telecommunications companies are showcasing initiatives related to digital transformation and smart services. Meanwhile, the Hay Al Falah Project presented updates on its latest residential developments and investment opportunities.

Other organizations taking part include the Consumer Protection Authority, road safety agencies, and financial institutions. These groups have offered awareness campaigns covering consumer rights, traffic safety, financial literacy, and banking solutions tailored to individuals, entrepreneurs, and small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Al Ashkharah Festival continues to play an important role in positioning the governorate as a preferred seasonal destination, balancing entertainment with education and economic development. The event remains a significant platform for promoting Omani heritage and supporting the nation’s broader tourism strategy.
