The Governorate of Al Buraimi has launched a three-day initiative titled “Urban October 2026,” focusing on urban planning and sustainable city development. The programme, organized by the Directorate-General of Housing and Urban Planning in Al Buraimi Governorate, operates under the theme “Happy and Prosperous Cities.” It was officially inaugurated by Sayyid Dr Hamad bin Ahmed al Busaidi, the Governor of Al Buraimi.

As part of the event’s activities, an exhibition featuring more than 21 pavilions was set up to display key urban projects implemented by various government entities and private sector organizations. Alongside these exhibits, participants had access to 14 working papers on topics related to urban planning and sustainability. These papers were presented by experts drawn from academic and educational institutions.

A highlight of the programme is an endowment hackathon held alongside the main events, carrying the slogan “Endowment for a sustainable impact.” The hackathon includes 12 competing teams and represents a collaborative effort between the Directorate-General of Housing and Urban Planning and the Department of Endowments and Religious Affairs in Al Buraimi.

Further activities during Urban October 2026 include competitions and additional initiatives aimed at raising awareness and encouraging the concept of sustainable urban growth in the region. The programme underscores Al Buraimi’s commitment to advancing sustainable development and improving urban living standards.
