A senior delegation from the Al Furqan Initiative, operating under Qatar Charity (QC), recently visited the Qatar Centre in Tirana, Albania, to assess the progress of an educational programme serving 300 orphaned children aged 6 to 18. The initiative aims to provide comprehensive support through a curriculum that integrates Qur’an memorisation, Arabic language instruction, Islamic values education, and various educational and cultural activities designed to promote confidence, responsibility, and personal development.
The delegation was led by Mohammed Yahya Taher, ambassador of the Al Furqan Initiative, and included Ahmed Fakhroo, executive assistant to the chief executive of Qatar Charity, as well as a donor supporting the programme. Their visit focused on reviewing how the programme was implemented, evaluating its outcomes, and observing its direct impact on the participating children.
During the visit, delegation members toured classrooms and observed sessions dedicated to Qur’an memorisation and Arabic language studies. They also received briefings on the centre’s educational approach, which combines academic learning with moral and spiritual development aimed at fostering strong values and resilient personalities among the children.
The delegation attended a Qur’an Memorisation and Recitation Competition in which students displayed notable proficiency and confidence in their recitations. The event ended with an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding participants and encouraging continued dedication to their Qur’anic studies.
Additionally, a 24-hour educational camp was held for 50 children, featuring lectures about the role of the Holy Qur’an in developing character, together with interactive cultural and recreational activities. These activities were designed to enhance teamwork, discipline, self-confidence, and leadership skills.
Members of the delegation praised the high standard of the programme’s execution and organisation, commending the staff's dedication and underscoring the visible positive effects on children’s Qur’anic achievements, personal conduct, and ethical growth.
The initiative is part of Qatar Charity’s wider strategy to empower vulnerable children through sustainable education. The programme’s curriculum begins with fundamental Arabic language skills before guiding students through memorisation of selected Qur’anic chapters, from Surat Ad-Duha to Surat An-Nas, while incrementally improving their recitation abilities. Complementing the religious instruction are cultural activities, recreational programmes, and educational field visits intended to help children deepen their faith, identity, and values.
The delegation’s visit highlights the importance of field monitoring to ensure the quality, effectiveness, and sustainability of humanitarian projects. It also reflects Qatar Charity’s ongoing commitment to transforming donor support into measurable and lasting impacts, aiming to equip orphaned children with the knowledge, values, and confidence needed to build better futures for themselves and their communities.
