Since leaving office as Vice President of the United States in 2001, Al Gore has remained a prominent figure in climate advocacy, leveraging his platform to raise awareness and drive global action on environmental issues. In 2006, Gore established the Climate Reality Project, an initiative aimed at educating and empowering individuals worldwide to develop local solutions to climate change. Over the past two decades, the organisation has trained more than 3.8 million people across various countries.

That same year, Gore’s documentary *An Inconvenient Truth* played a pivotal role in bringing climate change into mainstream public discourse, sparking widespread debate and engagement on the subject. In recognition of the film’s impact, 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of its release. To commemorate this milestone, the Climate Reality Project has expanded its programmes to new regions, including Chile and Singapore, facilitating the formation of networks and tools designed to advance climate action.

In 2025, Gore launched an international tour beginning in Paris to promote the Climate Reality Project’s training centres and youth programmes. The initiative seeks to bolster support for renewable energy alternatives, particularly in regions where public motivation to address extreme heat and weather events remains strong, even as political challenges persist in the United States.

Gore has been vocal in his criticism of the previous U.S. administration’s environmental policies. During the 2025 San Francisco Climate Week, he condemned moves by the Trump administration to reduce government subsidies for renewable energy and to circumvent Congressional authority over taxation and spending. More recently, he publicly opposed the administration’s decision to repeal the Environmental Protection Agency’s “endangerment finding,” a key regulation that had recognised greenhouse gases as a threat to public health and welfare.

As climate change continues to present complex challenges globally, Gore’s ongoing work highlights the importance of education, grassroots activism, and international collaboration in fostering sustainable solutions.
