KUWAIT — Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Nader Al-Jallal issued a ministerial decree on Monday establishing the Board of Trustees for the Kuwait Academy of Arts, marking a significant step toward enhancing the institution’s governance and advancing arts education in the country.

The new board is intended to support the academy’s development and strengthen its capacity to contribute to the cultural and educational landscape of Kuwait. According to a statement from the Ministry of Higher Education, the move underscores a broader commitment to improving academic outcomes and reinforcing the role of the arts within the national education system.

Dr. Al-Jallal emphasized that the board will be instrumental in preparing qualified national talent capable of innovation and competition in various artistic fields. He highlighted that the board comprises a diverse group of academic leaders, cultural figures, and specialists whose combined expertise will facilitate greater collaboration between educational and cultural institutions.

The board’s responsibilities include shaping the general policies of the Kuwait Academy of Arts, overseeing its strategic plans, and supporting the development of academic programs aligned with Kuwait’s goals for cultural and educational progress. Dr. Al-Jallal characterized the academy as a key higher education project that reflects Kuwait’s dedication to fostering its cultural and artistic sectors. He also reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to initiatives aimed at nurturing national artistic talent and positioning Kuwait as a regional hub for cultural and artistic excellence.

As specified in the decree, Dr. Al-Jallal will chair the Board of Trustees. Other members include the Director General of the Kuwait Academy of Arts, the Secretary-General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, and the deans of the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts and the Higher Institute of Musical Arts. The board will also feature several academic and cultural specialists, including Dr. Nada Al-Khamis, Dr. Haya Al-Qandi, Dr. Mohammed Al-Baijan, Dr. Yousef Al-Sari’, and Bader Al-Hain. Members are appointed for a four-year term under the provisions of the decree.

The establishment of the board aligns with Kuwait’s ongoing efforts to enhance institutional governance in higher education and support the growth of the country’s artistic and cultural sectors.
