Qatar’s Minister of Finance, HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, participated in a panel discussion titled “The Discipline Dividend: Reserves, Capital and Resilience” during the special session of the Qatar Economic Forum (QEF) held in New York alongside the United Nations General Assembly meetings. The forum addressed pressing issues within the global financial system, including high debt levels, inflation, trade tensions, and market volatility.
During the session, Al Kuwari underscored the necessity of maintaining the soundness and sustainability of financial systems while fostering long-term investment. He emphasized that these efforts are crucial for building resilient economies capable of adapting to global challenges and evolving circumstances. The Minister also highlighted the importance of international cooperation and coordinated strategies as foundational elements for promoting financial stability and sustainable economic growth.
In addition to his participation in the panel, Al Kuwari engaged in bilateral discussions with senior officials from Venezuela and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). He met with HE Calixto Ortega Sánchez, Vice President for the Economy of Venezuela, where they reviewed a broad range of financial and economic issues. The dialogue also covered regional and international developments, focusing on shared interests between Qatar and Venezuela.
Furthermore, Al Kuwari held talks with Ilan Goldfajn, President of the IDB, discussing financial and economic matters alongside current regional and global challenges. These meetings occurred on the sidelines of the Qatar Economic Forum, which convened in parallel with the UN General Assembly to facilitate dialogue on global economic resilience and cooperation.
