Al Mudhaibi Industrial City in Oman's Al Sharqiyah North Governorate is advancing its development with a 15 million Omani Rial (RO) investment secured through 14 new projects, as infrastructure work progresses on the site’s first phase. Managed by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), the industrial city has initiated construction covering 1.34 million square metres of its planned 9 million square metre total area.

The current phase focuses on building approximately 14 kilometres of internal roads, along with establishing essential utilities such as water, electricity, sewerage, and telecommunications networks. Additional infrastructure includes water reservoirs, perimeter fencing, security gates, and facilities to support entrepreneurs and investors, including the Madayn Entrepreneurial Complex and the Masar one-stop service centre. Overall infrastructure development is valued at RO 17.5 million and has reached about 7 percent completion.

The industrial city has attracted a balanced mix of investors, with seven Omani and seven foreign projects represented among the 14 ventures. These investments cover diverse sectors including electrical equipment manufacturing, furniture production, and poultry processing. Officials say the development will bolster economic diversification by introducing new industrial activities, encouraging private-sector participation, and creating job opportunities.

Foreign investment is anticipated to play a key role in transferring technology and expanding export potential for goods produced within the industrial city. Al Mudhaibi Industrial City is intended to support various logistics and supply-chain operations, while also providing local agricultural and handicraft producers in the region with improved access to inputs and markets.

Looking ahead, the Omani government aims for the city to become a regional manufacturing hub by 2030, targeting industries such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, and light manufacturing. Sustainability and circular economy principles are also priorities for the development. The project aligns with Oman’s broader economic vision, including integration into a nationwide network of smart industrial cities designed to promote production, innovation, and exports in support of Oman Vision 2040.
