Kuwait’s shooting team has continued its strong performance on the international stage, with Talal Abdullah Al-Rashidi securing first place in the clay target shooting event at the Grand Prix tournament held in Italy. The competition, organized by the Italian Shooting Federation from August 28 to 30, 2026, brought together 740 shooters from multiple countries.
Engineer Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi, President of both the Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations and head of Kuwait’s delegation to the tournament, highlighted the significance of this achievement. He noted that Kuwaiti shooters have consistently demonstrated their readiness and capability to overcome challenges and meet national aspirations. The team prepared for the event through a training camp held in mid-August, as part of the broader strategy to ready athletes for the upcoming Asian Games scheduled in Japan this September, as well as other international competitions.
Al-Otaibi praised the skill and dedication of Kuwait’s shooters, emphasizing that their success followed a period of resumed sporting activities after a prolonged hiatus. He credited the achievements to rigorous training, effective planning, collaboration between technical and administrative teams, and strong support from the federation’s Board of Directors, which has maintained unwavering backing for the shooters and coaches.
During the championship, Talal Al-Tarqi was honored in the presence of Senator Luciano, President of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), alongside members of the Kuwaiti national shooting team. The Italian firearms manufacturer Beretta also recognized Al-Tarqi’s victory.
Al-Otaibi expressed gratitude toward the Public Authority for Sports and its leadership, as well as various government ministries and institutions that contribute to supporting shooting sports in Kuwait. He emphasized the critical role of this collective support in elevating Kuwaiti athletes at international events.
Concluding his remarks, Al-Otaibi dedicated the accomplishment to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, extending his well wishes to them and the people of Kuwait. He reaffirmed the commitment of Kuwait’s shooters to continue striving for excellence and raising the country’s profile in future global competitions.
