Al Shabab and Al Nahda delivered commanding performances in the fifth round of the 2026-27 Jindal League, each scoring five goals to secure decisive victories on Tuesday, as the league maintained a high-scoring trend with 24 goals across seven matches.

Al Shabab dominated Sohar with a 5-0 away triumph at the Sohar Sports Complex. The visitors took an early lead when Khalid al Buraiki headed in a corner from Hussein al Shahri in the opening minute. Despite Sohar creating chances through Saud al Muqbali and Diop, goalkeeper Majdi Shaaban, playing against his former club, kept the hosts from equalizing in the first half. The contest shifted decisively in Al Shabab’s favor after Sohar’s Sami al Anabi was sent off in the 67th minute following a VAR review for a foul on Al Shahri. Al Shabab capitalized on the numerical advantage, with substitute Bebejin Willem doubling the lead in the 72nd minute. The visitors then completed an extraordinary surge in stoppage time, scoring three goals through Juma al Habsi (96th minute), Abdulrahman al Yaqoubi (99th minute), and a late breakaway finish by Hussein al Shahri. The loss marked Sohar’s second heavy consecutive defeat, following a 4-1 loss to Al Musannah in the previous round.

Elsewhere, Al Nahda reinforced their standing with a 5-1 win over Sur. Karim Darwish opened the scoring and added a second goal, supported by strikes from Mohammed Faraj, Jameel al Yahmadi, and Djefana Ndorsen. Sur’s only goal came from Abdullah al Mushaifri via a penalty, but the hosts remain without a point after five matches, enduring their fifth straight defeat. Al Nahda’s win elevated them to second place with 10 points, trailing leaders Al Nasr who have maintained a perfect record with 12 points from four matches.

The round also featured notable individual achievements, including Dhofar’s Abdullah bin Zahir al Mughanni, who scored a hat-trick in his team’s narrow 3-2 victory against Ibri. Similarly, Fanja’s Milhem al Hadhrami netted three goals in a 3-1 win over Saham. Across the seven fixtures, six ended in victories and one in a draw, producing an average of 3.43 goals per game. The round saw 27 yellow cards, two red cards, and two penalties awarded.

Current league standings have Al Nasr leading with 12 points, followed by Al Nahda on 10, and both Al Shabab and Saham on nine points each. The next round is scheduled to begin on Friday, October 23, as teams aim to consolidate or improve their early-season positions in the tightly contested Jindal League.
