Al Shamal and Al Wakrah played to a 1-1 draw in their Week 4 match of the Doha Bank Stars League at Al Bayt Stadium on Thursday. The result moved Al Shamal to eight points in the league standings, while Al Wakrah increased their tally to two points.
Al Shamal opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Pablo Mari rose to head in a corner delivered by Mohamed Ben Romdhane. The lead was short-lived, however, as Al Wakrah equalized in first-half injury time. Aissa Laidouni capitalized on a rebound following a save by Al Shamal goalkeeper Babacar Seck, converting a follow-up effort by Ayoub Assal.
The second half saw both teams create several scoring opportunities but neither side could find a winner. In the fourth minute of stoppage time, Baghdad Bounedjah came close for Al Shamal with a header that narrowly missed the right corner of the goal.
Shortly after the final whistle, referee Mohammed Ahmed Al Shammari issued a red card to Bounedjah for protesting decisions. The dismissal reduced Al Shamal to ten men following the drawn contest.
