Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar Properties, has hinted at a new development in Dubai’s Downtown shopping district with a project named Dubai Mall Plaza and Hotel. In a post on his verified Instagram account on Tuesday, Alabbar shared a brief video showcasing a computer-generated image of the upcoming plaza-style complex. The footage highlights pedestrian-friendly spaces, illuminated architectural features, and the Burj Khalifa prominently in the background.

While details such as the project's investment value and anticipated completion date were not disclosed, the announcement signals further expansion in an area already known for its retail and entertainment offerings. This move comes amid ongoing efforts by Emaar to enhance Dubai Mall, one of the world’s largest shopping centers. Earlier in June 2024, the company revealed plans for a Dh1.5 billion expansion, designed to add approximately 240 luxury retail and dining outlets.

In addition to the Downtown Dubai development, Emaar is also advancing work on a significant new shopping destination in Dubai Creek Harbour. The forthcoming Dubai Mall Plaza and Hotel project is expected to complement these existing initiatives, reinforcing Emaar’s position in the region’s retail and hospitality sectors.
