An investigative documentary aired by Alaraby TV has revealed new details about a cyber-intelligence operation conducted by Israel in Lebanon on September 17 and 18, 2024. The operation involved the deployment of thousands of booby-trapped pagers and two-way radios, reportedly affecting more than 3,500 individuals.

The documentary, titled "The Great Breach... The Israeli Pager Crime," is the result of a multinational investigative effort. It reconstructs the planning and execution of the covert operation using field reporting, official documents, and corporate records. The investigation further uncovers financial links between companies allegedly used as front entities, including BAC Consulting. BAC Consulting, the company contracted by Hezbollah to procure the communication devices, is identified as a shell company with only a single employee.

According to the documentary, Israeli intelligence allegedly established a network of shell companies and intermediaries to manufacture counterfeit versions of the pagers used by Hezbollah. The bogus devices, embedded with explosives, were then introduced into Hezbollah’s supply chain, leading to multiple explosions.

The investigation also includes the first televised interview with a senior Hezbollah official. He describes how the pagers were purchased and inspected prior to the explosions and speaks of a wartime order for thousands of pagers shipped to Lebanon via Turkey. Hezbollah claims this shipment also contained explosive devices.

A detailed engineering and forensic analysis presented in the documentary explains how explosives were concealed inside a pager battery, allowing the modified devices to evade standard inspection methods. The examination is based on original devices and physical evidence obtained by the investigative team.

Legal experts in international humanitarian law consulted for the documentary suggest that the operation may constitute a war crime. The investigation further explores the potential legal responsibility of the various companies and commercial front entities involved in the manufacturing, marketing, and transport of the booby-trapped devices.
