Alara Resources’ Al Wash-hi Majaza copper concentrator in Oman exceeded its production target in the September quarter, processing 285,141 tonnes of ore—14 percent above the planned 249,000 tonnes. The Australian-listed company reported concentrate production of 11,028 wet metric tonnes for the three months ending September 30, with mine ore production reaching 333,647 tonnes.
The operation is managed by Al Hadeetha Resources LLC (AHRL), where Alara holds a 51 percent stake, alongside Al Hadeetha Investment Services with 30 percent and Al Tasnim Infrastructure owning 19 percent. Improvements in mining selectivity, stockpile management, and blending techniques helped maintain a consistent feed to the concentrator. Technical assessments also supported enhanced mine planning, and mine expansion efforts are underway to improve ore access for future extraction. Updated geotechnical and groundwater studies have been integrated into ongoing pit optimisation and mine design work.
Quarterly mining targets were met, and the operation recorded a new high in copper sales, dispatching approximately 2,952 tonnes—an increase of 42 percent from the previous record of 2,077 tonnes set in the June quarter. Alara attributed the boosted sales to better plant performance, favourable ore characteristics, and increased production throughput. AHRL shipped 15 consignments totaling about 15,199 wet metric tonnes of concentrate containing copper, as well as roughly 1,247 ounces of gold, through SOHAR Port and Freezone.
However, the company noted that geopolitical tensions had disrupted shipping operations by causing container shortages, unpredictable schedules, and port connection issues. These factors led to shipment delays, slightly prolonging the timing of concentrate revenue inflows despite stable production, storage capacity, and dispatch readiness.
In addition to the established mining activities, Alara continued exploration at Block 22B, a 1,448-square-kilometre concession located approximately 160 kilometres southeast of Muscat. This project is managed by Al Hadeetha Mining LLC, in which Alara holds a 27.5 percent interest. An airborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey completed in July gathered about 6,132 line-kilometres of data. Interpretation is ongoing, with final results anticipated between October and December to assist in ranking prospects and directing further exploration.
Remote sensing efforts have identified 12 prospective areas, while geological mapping and rock-chip sampling have focused on five priority zones. These field investigations revealed surface copper indicators and geological features warranting more detailed study. Alara indicated that further work, including geochemical analysis and drilling, is necessary to fully assess the potential significance of these findings.
