Alexandra Burke, the British singer and stage actress, has shared insights into her personal and professional life, revealing her desire to expand her family amid a demanding career schedule. The 38-year-old former X Factor winner, who is engaged to ex-Republic of Ireland footballer Darren Randolph, discussed the challenges of balancing motherhood, work, and relationship commitments.

Burke, who has two young sons aged three and four, described the exhaustion of managing early mornings and a rigorous performance schedule. She recently completed a lengthy run in the West End production of "I’m Every Woman — The Chaka Khan Musical," which required her to appear on stage five days a week. Despite the fatigue, she and her fiancé made time for date nights, though she admitted nearly nodding off during one evening out. Randolph, 39, now runs a goalkeeping academy after retiring from professional football.

The singer expressed a strong desire for more children, aiming for a total of around four, reflecting the family size she grew up with. While Randolph reportedly wants four children, Burke is planning carefully due to her busy career and the physical demands of pregnancy. She emphasized her commitment to fitness, working out five to six times a week, as part of her preparation to have more children. However, she also acknowledged the need to balance family expansion with her professional pursuits and age considerations.

Burke’s upcoming plans include a role in the "Sleeping Beauty" pantomime in Milton Keynes, alongside Christopher Biggins and the children’s puppet characters Sooty and Sweep. Following this production, she and Randolph intend to focus on their engagement and wedding plans. The couple became engaged in 2024 but have yet to set a firm wedding date. Burke explained that their demanding freelance careers and parental responsibilities have made organizing the wedding difficult, although they are hopeful to finalize plans in the coming months.

Born in London, Alexandra Burke first rose to prominence in 2005 when she auditioned for the second series of The X Factor, reaching the final seven but not advancing further at that time. After additional training, she returned in 2008 and won the competition under the mentorship of Cheryl Tweedy. Her winning performance included a rendition of Whitney Houston’s "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," and her winner’s single, "Hallelujah," topped the UK Christmas charts.

Since her X Factor success, Burke has built a career spanning both music and theatre. She released her debut album, "Overcome," in 2009 and has taken on notable West End roles such as Rachel Marron in "The Bodyguard," Roxie Hart in "Chicago," and Deloris Van Cartier in "Sister Act The Musical." With her continuing work in theatre and ambitions for a larger family, Burke’s coming years promise a busy and multifaceted chapter.
