Alfie Steward played a pivotal role as Lye Town secured a 3-0 victory over Stone Old Alleynians in a league match on Friday evening. The win, achieved on home turf, was marked by Steward’s swift double strike within the opening half-hour, setting the tone for Lye’s dominant performance.

Steward opened the scoring after 27 minutes, capitalizing on a second opportunity following an initial blocked effort. The play began with Luke Sidaway delivering a cutback from the right flank, enabling Steward to react quickly and slot the ball home. His second goal demonstrated individual skill as he deftly turned his marker and converted a precise low corner taken by Danny Cartwright, sending the ball through a crowded penalty area and into the far post from the left side of the box.

Despite Lye missing several chances in the second half, including a notable effort by Steward that struck the top corner of the net, the home side extended their lead through a fortunate own goal. Teddy Jones inadvertently diverted a header from Isaac Stones past his own goalkeeper, Josh Strizovic, further increasing Lye’s advantage.

Ta’shae Andall-Gibbons sealed the scoring later in the game, adding a fourth goal for the hosts to complete a comprehensive win. Stone Old Alleynians were unable to mount a response throughout the contest, with goalkeeper Strizovic also making a crucial save to deny a close-range attempt by Samir Bihmoutine.

The victory boosts Lye Town’s standing as they continue their campaign in the league, demonstrating both attacking prowess and defensive resilience against their local rivals.
