Trainer George Boughey highlighted several promising runners as the Qatar Goodwood Festival approaches its final day, expressing optimism about the performances and prospects of his horses.

Hopewell Rock, set to compete in the 1:50 p.m. race at Goodwood, showed potential at Royal Ascot but did not perform at his best, according to Boughey. The horse appeared somewhat subdued during that event. However, since then, Hopewell Rock has trained exceptionally well and remains in excellent condition. The campaign at Goodwood had been planned following the Royal Ascot outing, and the horse is representing Wathnan Racing in strong form.

Another contender, Tryst, will race at Newmarket in the 3:23 p.m. event and is viewed as the team’s strongest hope of the weekend. Boughey noted that Tryst had always trained like a filly capable of improving under handicap conditions. The recent decision to run her over a suitable distance, with jockey Billy Loughnane aboard, yielded encouraging results. The trainer is hopeful that despite a rise in the handicap weights, Tryst will continue to progress.

Asuka, making his handicap debut in the 3:42 p.m. race at Thirsk, is ridden by Jack Callan, who recently lost his apprentice claim. Boughey spoke highly of Callan’s potential and his key role in the operation. Asuka comes into the race following an impressive previous win and will carry a mark of 89. The seven-furlong distance is expected to suit the horse, and Boughey believes the field appears relatively weak, giving Asuka a strong chance to contend.
