Former Tottenham Hotspur forward and coach Clive Allen has expressed confidence that Harry Kane will secure the Ballon d'Or next month, citing the striker’s exceptional performance during the 2025-26 season. Kane, who currently plays for Bayern Munich and captains the England national team, scored 61 goals for his club and added 12 more for his country over the course of the campaign.

Allen, who worked with Kane during his early development at Tottenham, believes the 33-year-old has earned the individual honor based on his achievements. “When you look at Ballon d’Or winners over the years, they have always been exceptional in what they have achieved. That is how it should be judged and there is no one better than Harry Kane over the last two or three seasons,” Allen said during a Hall of Fame event at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday.

Kane left Tottenham ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. Since his departure, Tottenham have struggled in the Premier League, finishing 17th in consecutive seasons and narrowly avoiding relegation last term. The club remains winless and at the bottom of the league after five matches this season. Scoring goals has been a particular issue, with new arrivals Dominic Solanke, Savio, and Omar Marmoush yet to open their Premier League accounts. However, Allen expressed optimism that the team’s recent investment of around £380 million on 10 new signings will eventually help Tottenham find their rhythm.

The Ballon d’Or ceremony, marking the 70th edition of the award, is scheduled for October 26 in London. This year the event departs from its usual Paris venue to honor the legacy of the inaugural winner, Sir Stanley Matthews. Mauricio Pochettino, Kane’s former coach at Tottenham, has also publicly supported the striker’s bid to become the first English recipient of the Ballon d’Or in 25 years.

While Kane himself has remained relatively reserved regarding his chances of winning the award, those close to him emphasize his remarkable scoring record and consistency as evidence of his candidacy. The Ballon d’Or remains one of football’s most prestigious individual accolades, recognizing outstanding achievement over the previous season.
