Fernando Alonso will remain with Aston Martin for the 2027 Formula One season, marking the 46-year-old’s 24th year in the sport. The Spaniard, a two-time world champion who won consecutive titles with Renault in 2005 and 2006, confirmed his commitment to the team alongside Canadian driver Lance Stroll.

Alonso, set to turn 46 next summer, had faced speculation about a possible retirement. However, he emphasized his continued passion and readiness to compete at the highest level, highlighting the strength of Aston Martin’s leadership, personnel, and facilities as key factors in his decision. Since debuting in Formula One in 2001 at age 19, Alonso has participated in 440 grands prix, securing 32 victories.

“I took my time to make this decision, but racing is my life, my passion, and I know I still have the speed and determination to compete at the highest level,” Alonso said. He also expressed enthusiasm for engaging with fans, noting the energy of the crowds as a significant motivator.

Lance Stroll, who is entering his 11th season in Formula One next year, also expressed his satisfaction with continuing his tenure at Aston Martin. He joined the team in 2019 and pointed to the ongoing progress at the team’s Silverstone base as a reason for optimism about future success. Stroll described the collective determination within the organization as a major source of motivation.

With Aston Martin’s driver lineup largely confirmed for the upcoming season, only four Formula One seats remain undecided. Red Bull is expected to retain Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad pending formal announcements, while Haas is anticipated to keep Oliver Bearman. Meanwhile, Esteban Ocon is likely to depart, with Brazilian Formula 2 title contender Rafael Camara emerging as a potential replacement.
