British-Lebanese human rights lawyer Amal Clooney attended the fifth annual Albie Awards in London this week, wearing a gold Gucci gown as she joined her husband, actor George Clooney, at the event. The awards ceremony took place at the Natural History Museum and was organized by the Clooney Foundation for Justice, which the couple co-founded in 2016.
Amal Clooney’s gown featured an off-the-shoulder design adorned with rows of gold sequins ending in a fringe detail. She complemented the look with a shimmering clutch and pointed-toe pumps, styling her hair with a deep side part. George Clooney wore a black tailored Gucci suit; Gucci served as the event’s official fashion partner for the year.
The Albie Awards were named in honor of South African anti-apartheid advocate and former Constitutional Court justice Albie Sachs, who was the recipient of a lifetime achievement award at the event’s inaugural ceremony. The awards recognize the work of human rights defenders, journalists, and activists who have contributed to justice, often under significant personal risk.
Originally launched in New York in 2022, the Albie Awards have been held in London since 2025. This year’s honorees included Kyrgyz journalists Bolot Temirov and Makhabat Tazhibek Kyzy, Malawian girls’ rights advocate Vanessa Mwangala, Pulitzer Prize-winning American photojournalist Lynsey Addario, Congolese human rights organization Justice Plus, and Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith.
The ceremony was hosted by British television presenter Graham Norton, with musical performances by American artists Jackson Browne and Vic Mensa. The event’s guest list featured a number of high-profile figures from the entertainment and fashion industries, including actors Brad Pitt, Emma Thompson, Felicity Jones, Hannah Waddingham, Laura Dern, Dominic West, Hugh Bonneville, Marisa Abela, Isla Fisher, Joel Edgerton, Ncuti Gatwa, Josh Hartnett, Katherine Waterston, and Richard Kind. Other attendees included model Emily Ratajkowski, Vogue’s global editorial director Anna Wintour, designer Donatella Versace, and musicians Bono and The Edge.
Amal Clooney, who was born in Beirut, has extensive experience in international law and has worked with the International Criminal Court on several cases. Her family relocated to the United Kingdom during Lebanon’s civil war when she was a young child.
