Qatar’s Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (Aman) has joined a national initiative aimed at enhancing digital safety and protecting children and families from risks associated with technology use. The campaign, led by the Ministry of Social Development and Family, brings together 20 national organisations to promote awareness of responsible and secure online behaviour.
Aman’s involvement will concentrate on preventing technology-related extortion and equipping children, young people, and families with the tools to identify and respond to unsafe online conduct. As part of its contribution, the centre plans to distribute a series of awareness messages and short videos through its social media channels. These materials will address topics such as privacy and personal data protection, safe sharing of images and information, recognition of suspicious links and online content, and appropriate responses to digital extortion.
Fadhl Mohammed al-Kaabi, Aman’s Acting Executive Director, emphasized that safeguarding children and youth in the digital landscape has become a vital component of social protection efforts. He underscored the need for coordinated action involving families, institutions, and the broader community to effectively address these challenges.
In addition to digital outreach, Hanan al-Ali, Director of Aman’s Media and Communications Office, noted that the campaign would include direct awareness activities, such as age-appropriate workshops for students. These efforts aim to complement the digital resources and engage younger audiences in understanding safe technology use.
The campaign reflects Qatar’s broader commitment to fostering a secure online environment amid increasing digital connectivity among its population.
