Amazon.com announced plans to hire more than 300,000 workers across the United States for the upcoming holiday season, marking a 20% increase from its 250,000 seasonal hires last year. The recruitment effort, which targets seasonal, part-time, and full-time positions, will span from October through December, with job listings posted on a weekly basis.

The company’s expanded hiring initiative aims to address heightened demand during the busy holiday period and reflects broader trends in the logistics and retail sectors, where several firms are bolstering their workforce. Earlier this month, United Parcel Service (UPS) also revealed its intention to hire 100,000 seasonal staff nationwide to cope with increased package volumes.

Amazon stated that seasonal employees earn an average of $20 per hour and may access various benefits. Those working at least 30 hours per week will be eligible for healthcare coverage starting on their first day, with plan options beginning at $5 per week and $5 copayments. The company further noted that full-time operations workers start at a minimum wage of $20 per hour, with the average hourly wage before benefits approaching $24.

In addition to competitive pay and benefits, Amazon highlighted the potential for seasonal workers to transition into full-time roles, underscoring the company’s ongoing focus on workforce retention and stability beyond peak periods. The company’s hiring plans come amid increased pressure on supply chains and delivery networks during the holiday season, prompting retailers and logistics providers to secure sufficient labor capacity.
