American cybersecurity firm Rubrik has announced a $500 million investment in the United Kingdom over the next five years, designating London as its European headquarters. The company said the UK represents one of its fastest-growing markets and the funding will support expanded hiring in sales, marketing, and customer support roles.

Rubrik, which is publicly traded on Nasdaq and valued at more than $17 billion, currently serves around 2,000 customers across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Bipul Sinha, chairman, CEO, and co-founder, stated that the UK’s technology sector is a key part of Rubrik’s long-term strategy. He emphasized that the investment aims to strengthen the company’s presence in the region and help customers address data sovereignty requirements, improve cyberattack recovery, and scale artificial intelligence (AI) securely.

As part of its expansion, Rubrik plans to launch its cloud security product on the AWS European Sovereign Cloud. This initiative targets cloud cybersecurity needs, particularly in heavily regulated sectors and public institutions. Rubrik was founded in 2014 and initially focused on business continuity after cyberattacks but has increasingly prioritized AI resilience. In October, the company introduced Rubrik Agent Cloud, a platform designed to monitor, control, and reverse unintended AI agent actions—an area of growing concern for businesses.

Recent research conducted by Rubrik in partnership with Economist Enterprise found that 98 percent of businesses have experienced disruptive incidents related to AI agents. The company reported a strong first quarter for its UK operations, adding new clients such as Harbour Energy, Manchester City Council, and the Scottish government.

Rubrik’s new office in Shoreditch, set to open in September, will feature amenities including a rooftop bar, wellness studio, and an indoor park. Records from Companies House indicate Rubrik employed 132 people in the UK last year, though the firm has not specified its hiring targets for the upcoming period.

Kanishka Narayan, UK minister for AI and online safety, described Rubrik’s choice to establish its European headquarters in London as an endorsement of British talent and the country’s business environment. The announcement follows a trend of major technology companies expanding in London. Earlier this year, OpenAI leased office space in King’s Cross to more than double its UK headcount to 544 employees, while Anthropic plans a fourfold increase nearby. Google is also preparing to open its £1 billion “landscraper” in King’s Cross this summer, which will include exhibition spaces, a swimming pool, and a biodiverse rooftop garden.
