His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has issued two official decrees establishing Tamim Bin Hamad University for Military and Technology Sciences and appointing its Board of Trustees. The decisions, issued on September 29, 2026, formally set up the university's legal and administrative framework.

Amiri Decision No. 36 of 2026 creates and organizes the new university, which aims to focus on fields related to military and technological sciences. The following decision, Amiri No. 37 of 2026, appoints the university’s Board of Trustees, outlining its composition and leadership structure.

According to the decree, the board will be chaired by the Commander-in-Chief of the Qatar Armed Forces, with the Minister of State for Defence Affairs serving as vice-chairman. Other board members include the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Education and Higher Education, the Minister of Transport, the Head of State Security, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, the President of the National Cyber Security Agency, and the President of Qatar University. Additionally, Dr. Mariam Ali Sultan al-Maadeed and Sheikha Dr. Dena bint Ahmed bin Saif al-Thani have been named as members.

The decision grants the board chairman the authority to appoint further members with relevant expertise or qualifications to support the university’s mission. Both decrees became effective immediately upon issuance and will be published in the official gazette as part of their formal implementation.
