A 23-year-old Amish woman in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, successfully deterred an attempted kidnapping by an armed man on October 14. According to local reports and a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson, Junior Jose Davila-Moran, 26, approached the woman from behind while she was working in her front yard. The assailant allegedly carried a large knife and black handcuffs and attempted to abduct her.
The woman responded by screaming and activating a nearby weed whacker, revving its motor as she stepped toward the attacker. This unexpected action caused Davila-Moran to flee the scene, according to an affidavit cited by local media.
DHS officials confirmed that Davila-Moran is a Guatemalan national residing in the United States without legal authorization. Authorities have not disclosed additional details about any subsequent law enforcement actions following the incident.
The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding illegal immigration and public safety in the region. Local law enforcement and federal agencies continue to monitor such incidents as part of broader efforts to address illegal border crossings and related criminal activity.
