Junior Amone is set to make his senior rugby league return this weekend, having been named to play for Wynnum Manly, a Brisbane Broncos feeder club, in the Queensland Cup. Amone received clearance from the Queensland Rugby League to sign with a Queensland Cup team following the termination of his contract with St George Illawarra prior to the start of the 2024 season.

Amone was released by St George Illawarra in connection with an incident involving a rooftop hammer attack on a tradesman in Wollongong. In 2025, he pleaded guilty to common assault after spitting at a woman in a Wollongong pub. Despite these legal issues, Amone will be taking the field against the PNG Hunters on Sunday.
