Hunt, a former Cambridge University student, completed the race in 10.98 seconds, narrowly missing her personal best by 0.01 seconds. The event took place under challenging conditions, with heavy rain affecting the sprint.

Hobbs claimed gold by a slim margin of 0.05 seconds ahead of Hunt, while Australia’s Torrie Lewis earned the bronze medal, setting a new national record with a time of 10.99 seconds. England’s Imani-Lara Lansiquot, 28, finished fourth in 11.02 seconds.

In the men’s 100 meters, Wales’ Jeremiah Azu finished fifth with a time of 10.03 seconds, echoing his placing at the previous Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022. Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme won the event, setting a Games record with a time of 9.83 seconds. Australia’s Lachlan Kennedy took silver, and Nigeria’s Kayinsola Ajayi secured the bronze medal.
