Andy Leese has been appointed as the new manager of Leighton Town, taking on the challenge of maintaining the club’s position at Step 3 of English non-league football. Leese, 63, assumes control at Bell Close alongside his long-time assistant Jon Meakes, following the departure of former manager Paul Reed.

Leese and Meakes bring extensive managerial experience from across Steps 2 to 4 of the football pyramid, having worked with clubs including Chesham United, Enfield Town, Hayes and Yeading, and more recently, Walthamstow FC. Their combined expertise is seen as a valuable asset for Leighton Town as the team seeks to stabilize and progress in the Southern Premier Central league.

Leighton Town secured promotion last season by winning the Division One Central title, but have encountered difficulties adapting to the higher level of competition this campaign. Leese acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating he is eager to meet the demands of Step 3 football while managing the expectations of what he described as “the most passionate fans in the league.”

The appointment marks a new chapter for Leighton Town as the club aims to build on recent success and establish itself firmly at the Step 3 level. Leese’s familiarity with the regional non-league landscape and his track record suggest a focused approach to achieving this goal in the current season.
