Scotland captain Andy Robertson has reached a significant milestone in his international career, becoming only the second Scottish player after Kenny Dalglish to earn 100 caps. The 32-year-old defender marked his 100th appearance during Scotland’s 2-0 victory over North Macedonia in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday.

Robertson’s leadership on the field has been pivotal as Scotland seeks to build momentum in the Nations League and beyond. With three group matches remaining, including a home fixture against Slovenia scheduled for Tuesday, Robertson is poised to surpass Dalglish’s record of 102 international appearances, potentially becoming Scotland’s most-capped male player.

Reflecting on his role, Robertson emphasized his commitment to the national team’s collective goals under current manager Sébastien Pocognoli. “You want to do as well as possible for the manager in charge,” he said. “I have always tried to do that under every manager. Now we have Sébastien Pocognoli and all of us have the same aim — get to the Euros and compete.”

Scotland is focused on incremental progress, with Robertson acknowledging the challenges ahead in qualifying for the UEFA European Championship. “There is no point doing it if that is not your aim. But we know that is a long way off. We’re taking it step by step, we are getting better and better,” he added.

Robertson’s milestone highlights both his enduring presence in Scottish football and the team’s broader ambition to establish itself on the European stage. As the Nations League campaign continues, his experience and leadership are expected to play a key role in guiding Scotland toward qualification and competitive performances in major tournaments.
