Ange Postecoglou, the former coach of the Australia national football team and ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager, has been appointed as the new head coach of Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr. The 58-year-old signed a two-year contract with the reigning Saudi league champions, the club announced in a statement.

Postecoglou takes over a squad valued at approximately $227 million, featuring some of world football’s most prominent stars. The team includes Cristiano Ronaldo, who remains the marquee player, alongside other high-profile signings such as Sadio Mané, Kingsley Coman, and João Félix.

Postecoglou’s appointment follows a turbulent period in his career. He left Tottenham in June 2025, shortly after leading the club to victory in the Europa League final. His departure marked the end of a notable but brief tenure at the Premier League side.

Al-Nassr described the new signing as the beginning of “a new chapter,” confirming the contract extension for two seasons. The club hopes that Postecoglou’s experience and tactical approach will help maintain their dominance in the Saudi Pro League and elevate their competitive profile in regional and international tournaments.

Postecoglou’s move to Saudi Arabia reflects a growing trend of high-profile coaches joining clubs in the Middle East as the region seeks to enhance the standard and global recognition of its football leagues. The decision also sets up a reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr in late 2023 and has been a central figure in the club’s recent successes.

The Saudi Pro League, backed by significant investment, has attracted several renowned players and coaches in recent years with the aim of raising the league's competitiveness. Postecoglou’s arrival is expected to bring further strategic expertise and international experience to Al-Nassr’s ambitions.
