Angela Hill secured a record 13th victory in the UFC strawweight division during her 30th appearance at UFC Macau on Saturday, overcoming former ONE Championship titleholder Xiong Jingnan in the latter’s home country. The 41-year-old American, who debuted in the UFC in 2014, delivered a composed and tactical performance to claim a unanimous decision win over the unbeaten Chinese fighter, who had not lost since 2019.

Hill utilized a combination of precise striking at range and well-timed elbows and knees as she controlled the pace and space throughout the bout. Judges awarded her the victory across the board, marking a significant upset in the "Las Vegas of the East." The win extended Hill’s record-breaking run in the strawweight division and demonstrated her continued competitiveness at 115 pounds.

Reflecting on the fight, Hill described the experience as energizing rather than stressful, likening it to an underdog story reminiscent of the Rocky film series. “I feel like that stuff fuels me [fighting away from home],” she said, noting that additional pressures sometimes helped her focus and enjoy the challenge. She credited rigorous preparation with her team for their success in countering Jingnan’s style, emphasizing her ability to remain relaxed and adapt her rhythm during the fight.

Hill, a member of Alliance MMA, holds a UFC record of 14 wins and 16 losses, with many defeats viewed as contentious decision losses. Despite this, she expressed confidence in her ability to compete with top-ranked opponents and indicated her desire to continue fighting as long as possible. “Longevity is something that a lot of the best fighters aren’t able to have,” Hill said. “If that’s something that I can take for my legacy, then I’m happy to just keep pushing it until the wheels fall off.”

Her victory in Macau not only set a new record for wins in the UFC women's strawweight division but also underscored her resilience and longevity in the sport nearly 12 years after her UFC debut.
