WEST SACRAMENTO — The Los Angeles Angels rallied late to defeat the Oakland Athletics 9-7 on Sunday, securing the series victory after being shut out in the previous game. Zach Neto’s two-run home run in the ninth inning gave the Angels their first lead of the game, while Denzer Guzman contributed a three-run homer in the eighth inning to help spark the rally.

Donovan Walton added a solo home run and totaled three RBIs for Los Angeles. Nolan Schanuel and Jose Siri each collected two hits, with Siri’s single in the ninth setting the stage for Neto’s decisive blast. Guzman’s home run, his second in as many days, came off Hogan Harris and tied the game at 7-7 before the Angels’ walk-off.

Starting pitcher Chase Silseth (2-1) earned the win by pitching eight scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Sam Bachman closed out the game with a perfect ninth inning, earning his first save of the season. Angels starter Reid Detmers allowed five runs and issued four walks over six innings.

Oakland received contributions from multiple players, including Nick Kurtz, who hit his 19th home run of the season. This milestone ties Kurtz with Bob Johnson for the most home runs by an Athletics player within their first two MLB seasons. Zac Gelof extended his hitting streak to 24 games by recording a single, double, and reaching base on an error throughout the contest. His streak ranks as the second-longest in franchise history since 1961.

The Athletics scored on five different players, including Joey Meneses, who recorded an RBI single in his debut with the team. Oakland’s starter Jack Perkins struck out eight batters across five innings while allowing four runs.

The Athletics took three of the four games in the series against the Angels, who now look ahead to a Monday matchup against the Baltimore Orioles. Los Angeles plans to start left-hander Sam Aldegheri (2-2, 4.50 ERA), while Oakland will send right-hander Aaron Civale (5-3, 4.91 ERA) to the mound Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants.
