Posting on his social media platform, Trump asserted that a U.S. military blockade of Iran will persist until there is either a formal agreement or "total surrender."

Trump described Iran as "duplicitous" for denying talks, emphasizing that despite the Iranian government’s refusal to acknowledge negotiations, the U.S. is actively engaged in seeking a resolution to longstanding issues caused by Tehran. He reiterated that Iran had approached the U.S. for discussions — characterizing the request in his post as a “beg” — but accused Tehran of reverting to its usual rhetoric, citing Iranian claims that they were only in talks with Oman about sharing control of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz, a crucial international shipping lane for oil exports, has been a focal point of strategic tension. Iran’s foreign ministry stated that it is only engaging with Oman on matters related to the strait and denied any direct communication with Washington. In response, Trump asserted that the U.S. Navy already controls the strait through its ongoing blockade. He described the blockade as a “Wall of Steel” that prevents any shipments from reaching Iran unless a deal is reached or Iran surrenders.

Trump’s statement came days after he called off a planned heavy bombing campaign against Iran.
