Anne Robinson, the British television presenter known for hosting "The Weakest Link," has opened up about the personal challenges she faced related to her struggle with alcohol and its impact on her family. Speaking on the podcast "Experience Is Everything" by Saga, Robinson, 81, revealed that she experienced profound shame after losing custody of her daughter, Emma, during a period marked by what she described as “an appalling drink problem.”

Robinson and her former husband, Charles Wilson, divorced in 1973. At that time, Emma was just two years old, and custody was granted solely to Wilson. Reflecting on this difficult chapter, Robinson called it the “most shameful thing” in her life and acknowledged the need to address her alcohol use. Over the next few years, she committed to sobriety, a decision that gradually allowed her to rebuild her relationship with her daughter.

She described the process of reconnecting with Emma as challenging but ultimately rewarding, noting that their current bond is "untouchable" after starting anew.
