Anthropic, an artificial intelligence company recognized for its Claude chatbot, has secured an entire office building in Manhattan’s Hudson Square as it plans to significantly expand its workforce in New York City. The company will occupy all 16 floors of 330 Hudson Street, with plans to increase its local headcount to more than 1,000 employees by the end of 2026, up from fewer than 500 at the beginning of the year.

The office space, which accommodates approximately 1,700 desks, is set to begin occupancy later this summer. This expansion underscores New York's growing prominence as a center for AI innovation, with Anthropic’s Manhattan location now its second-largest office hub after its San Francisco headquarters.

Anthropic, led by CEO Dario Amodei, recently reintroduced its advanced Mythos and Fable AI models. The company has received approval from the Trump administration to proceed with these models, reflecting ongoing governmental engagement with emerging AI technologies.

The move highlights broader trends in the technology sector, as major AI firms establish or expand presences in New York, drawn by the city’s talent pool and infrastructure. Anthropic's growth in Manhattan is illustrative of the increasing significance of the East Coast in the competitive artificial intelligence landscape.
