The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved a charge sheet against Saima Wazed, daughter of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, following allegations that she submitted false information in her curriculum vitae to secure her position as regional director for the World Health Organization’s South-East Asia office. ACC Secretary Saidur Rahman Khan confirmed the development on October 18, 2026.

According to the ACC investigation, Saima Wazed purportedly provided inaccurate details in her CV, stating that she had served as an honorary specialist or expert at Bangladesh Medical University, an institution previously known as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital. The inquiry concluded that this false claim was instrumental in her appointment to the WHO post, and that it represented an abuse of power, which potentially harmed Bangladesh’s reputation.

The case was initially registered with the ACC’s Dhaka-1 integrated district office on March 20, 2025. The investigation was led by Tahasina Munabil Haque, deputy director of the ACC’s Money Laundering-1 branch. Further details regarding the proceedings or responses from Saima Wazed were not immediately available.
