Actress Anya Taylor-Joy has been cast in a new role for an upcoming installment in the Lord of the Rings franchise. The 30-year-old, known for her work across film and television, will portray Seren, a lethal elf and trusted operative serving King Thranduil. This character is original to the production, marking a fresh addition to the established lore.

The project, titled The Hunt for Gollum, features Andy Serkis both directing and reprising his iconic role as Gollum. The film is scheduled for release next year and also includes the return of Sir Ian McKellen as the wizard Gandalf, further anchoring the story within the familiar universe.

Taylor-Joy, who was born in the United States, expressed enthusiasm about her casting, noting a personal connection to the elven role.
