Apple Inc. has agreed to a $250 million settlement in a class action lawsuit concerning certain artificial intelligence features on select iPhone models. The settlement affects purchasers of iPhone 16 series models, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, bought in the United States between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025.
The case, Landsheft v. Apple, Inc., is pending in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose Division. Plaintiffs allege that consumers who purchased the specified iPhone models expected to receive enhanced Apple Intelligence-powered Siri assistant features that were not available during the class period. Apple denies any wrongdoing and has raised several defenses against the claims.
Eligible Settlement Class Members include all U.S. residents who purchased the affected iPhone models for personal use during the stated timeframe. The settlement fund of $250 million will be allocated to pay claims submitted by these class members, as well as court-approved costs and attorneys’ fees.
Individuals seeking compensation must submit a completed claim form by December 21, 2026. Claims can be filed online at www.SmartphoneAISettlement.com or by mailing a physical form to the Settlement Administrator at a provided address. Those who exclude themselves from the settlement will forfeit any compensation but retain the option to pursue individual lawsuits against Apple on the same issues. Objecting parties may submit their concerns for the court’s consideration, though the judge cannot alter the terms of the agreement.
A Final Fairness Hearing to determine whether the court will approve the settlement and attorneys’ fees is scheduled for February 1, 2027, at the U.S. District Court in San Jose, California. The court’s decision at this hearing will influence whether the settlement benefits will be distributed or if the lawsuit will proceed.
