The i Paper has opened applications for its annual Christmas appeal, inviting UK-based charities to participate in the upcoming campaign scheduled for the festive period. The publication is seeking organizations that demonstrate strong community engagement and can provide evidence of transformative impact through their work.

Previous appeals conducted by the i Paper have successfully raised substantial funds and heightened public awareness for selected charities. Notably, the paper’s partnership with the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) for the Ukraine appeal raised a record £857,000, leading to the i Paper becoming a rapid response partner with the DEC. In addition, collaborations with the charity Magic Breakfast resulted in funding 2.8 million nutritious school breakfasts at a cost of just 34p each. Last year’s “Home for Christmas” appeal with Young Lives vs Cancer exceeded expectations, raising over £100,000 to support young cancer patients and their families.

Rachel Kirby-Rider, chief executive of Young Lives vs Cancer, praised the impact of last year’s appeal, highlighting the vital role the funds played in supporting the 12 children and young people diagnosed with cancer daily in the UK.

The 2026 Christmas appeal coverage will run for approximately four weeks, spanning digital platforms and print editions. Charities interested in applying must submit a brief campaign proposal by 7 October, outlining how the appeal would make a meaningful difference, specifying the need for donations, and detailing exactly how funds would be allocated. Applicants are asked to provide tangible examples of what various donation amounts, ranging from £5 to £100, could purchase.

Eligibility criteria include the requirement that charities serve the entire UK and have the capacity to collect and track donations both online and via post. Organizations must also commit to providing weekly updates on donation totals and be able to support robust editorial content featuring human interest stories. Proposals should include potential case studies and any available celebrity endorsements or ambassadors. A suggested campaign title should also be submitted.

Applications should be emailed to charity.appeal@theipaper.com.
