Saudi Aramco has completed the acquisition of a 49 percent stake in the artificial intelligence company Humain, formalizing an agreement first announced in October 2025. The transaction involved cash contributions of approximately 9.9 billion Saudi riyals ($2.6 billion) during 2026, alongside the transfer of AI, computing, and digital assets to Humain through a wholly owned Aramco subsidiary. The Public Investment Fund (PIF), Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, retains a majority 51 percent stake in the company.
The partnership consolidates AI assets and capabilities under Humain, which was established in May 2025 to develop full-stack AI technologies. Humain focuses on four core areas: next-generation data centers, high-performance computing infrastructure and cloud platforms, advanced AI models including ALLAM, a multimodal Arabic large language model, and AI solutions for public and private sector customers. The company aims to deploy three gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2030 to address increasing regional and global demand for computing power.
Amin Nasser, Aramco’s president and CEO, highlighted the company’s technology achievements since 2023, noting $11.3 billion in realized value from technology, with a substantial part coming from AI solutions. He described the partnership as a means to reinforce Aramco’s position as a global technology and AI leader and to accelerate the localization and scalable deployment of AI systems within Saudi Arabia. Aramco plans to utilize Humain’s infrastructure to enhance its industrial operations and global business ecosystem.
From the Public Investment Fund’s perspective, Yazeed Al-Humeid, deputy governor and head of Middle East and North Africa investments, emphasized that combining PIF and Aramco’s AI assets under Humain would generate synergies in talent development, technological advancement, and intellectual property creation. He noted the role of AI as a key enabler across the PIF’s six economic ecosystems, with the transaction expected to increase private sector participation and the advancement of advanced technologies in Saudi Arabia.
The transaction aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to diversify its economy by fostering innovation and technology development. By expanding Humain’s capabilities and infrastructure, both stakeholders anticipate growth opportunities, improved margins, and enhanced monetization of AI and digital assets. The move also supports Saudi ambitions to become a global exporter of AI technologies and services.
