Ariana Grande addressed recent speculation over her decision to step back from the public eye, emphasizing that the move was planned well in advance and is motivated by personal boundaries rather than burnout. The pop singer and actress spoke to fans during her Monday concert in Chicago amid widespread discussion following announcements about her upcoming break.
Grande confirmed that she will pause her public activities after concluding her Eternal Sunshine tour in London next month. This hiatus also includes her withdrawal from the lead role in the musical Sunday In The Park With George, which was scheduled for next summer. Despite the break, she expressed enthusiasm about her current tour, describing it as a profoundly positive and healing experience.
“The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing,” Grande said. “It is something that I had decided to plan that I had quietly made a long time ago and it’s a decision that was made from a thoughtful and empowered place.” She added that setting boundaries and taking breaks are natural human needs, but that her creative work remains deeply fulfilling.
Grande’s latest album, Petal, is set to debut at number one later this week, underscoring her continued professional success. “Multiple things can be true at the same time,” she told fans. “Yes, boundaries, they need to be set. Human beings can need a break sometimes. And also, this can be and will continue to be the greatest experience of my professional and creative life.”
Throughout her remarks, Grande expressed gratitude and affection for her audience, calling the tour “the most healing, beautiful, corrective, magnificent, special experience” she has ever had. The artist’s comments seek to clarify her intentions amid ongoing public concern about her well-being and future projects.
