A year after the passing of Giorgio Armani, the designer’s eponymous brand unveiled its spring-summer collection on Sunday in Milan, blending classic elegance with sparkling embellishments such as crystals and sequins. The show took place at the Armani headquarters, the same location where Armani was laid in state in September 2025, adding a poignant backdrop to the event.

Silvana Armani, the late designer’s niece who collaborated with him for four decades, led the presentation. Her collection featured predominantly black-and-white dresses and ensembles, some with necklines plunging to the navel. Many of the outfits incorporated crystal and lamé elements that caught and reflected light from a disco ball suspended above the runway. This use of luminous details, while present in Giorgio Armani’s eveningwear, was expanded in Silvana Armani’s designs to highlight the fluidity and lightness of the silhouettes.

One notable design showcased multiple images of Giorgio Armani, serving as both homage and artistic statement. The collection also evoked a maritime theme, with garments treated to resemble the weathered effects of seawater and wind. Salt crystal motifs appeared as embellishments on jackets and brooches, reinforcing this aesthetic.

Silvana Armani described her target customer as “a normal woman, self-assured, who, when she gets dressed, feels good in our clothes.” In a recent interview, she emphasized her intention not to imitate her uncle, but to channel his spirit. While respecting the brand’s legacy, she has introduced subtle changes, including the removal of hats—a signature accessory favored by Giorgio Armani. “My uncle liked hats. I don’t, so I allowed myself to change the rules a bit,” she said.

The Milan show marked the conclusion of the Italian fashion week and the beginning of Paris Fashion Week, where collections from Dior, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, and Carven are scheduled for presentation in the coming days.
