The British Army has been instructed to suspend all non-essential training activities as part of new budgetary measures aimed at reducing costs. Among the exercises affected are live-fire drills planned for the Royal Tank Regiment and an operation involving Apache attack helicopters.

An army spokesperson confirmed that training efforts are ongoing but emphasized a focus on activities that directly enhance readiness, deployability, and operational effectiveness. The decision to pause certain exercises comes amid growing political pressure on Prime Minister Andy Burnham to boost defence spending.
