Arne Slot, the former Liverpool manager, is reportedly focusing on a return to coaching within European football despite interest from the Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli. Slot guided Liverpool to their 20th league title less than a year after taking over from Jurgen Klopp in the summer of 2024. However, his second season at Anfield proved challenging, with the team suffering 12 Premier League defeats and securing a Champions League qualification spot only on the final day of the campaign.

Slot was dismissed from his position by Liverpool's sporting director Richard Hughes with one year remaining on his contract. Since his departure, the Dutch coach has been linked with several managerial opportunities, including a reported approach from Fulham and substantial interest from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli. The Jeddah-based club is believed to consider Slot a leading candidate for their vacant managerial post, especially following Newcastle United’s pursuit of Matthias Jaissle, who is set to succeed Eddie Howe as head coach at St James’ Park.

Despite the appeal of the Saudi league's growing profile and financial incentives, Slot appears keen on continuing his career within Europe. Earlier speculation connected him with AC Milan, although the Italian club ultimately appointed Ruben Amorim, the former Manchester United manager. Meanwhile, Slot’s former assistants Sipke Hulshoff and Giovanni van Bronckhorst have both returned to Feyenoord, the club where Slot previously enjoyed success as head coach.

As of now, Slot’s next move remains uncertain, but his priority seems to be securing a position with a European side rather than pursuing offers outside the continent.
