Arsenal is reportedly close to signing goalkeeper Illan Meslier, who is currently a free agent after leaving Leeds United. The French goalkeeper is in advanced discussions to join the Premier League champions, where he would serve as a backup to first-choice goalkeeper David Raya.

Meslier, who previously held the position of first-choice goalkeeper at Leeds, did not make an appearance last season after slipping to third choice under manager Daniel Farke. His move to Arsenal is expected to affect the club's existing goalkeeping roster, potentially prompting changes among the backup options.

Currently, Kepa Arrizabalaga is Arsenal's second-choice goalkeeper. The Spanish international has attracted interest from clubs in Spain and Italy, which could lead to his departure. Additionally, young goalkeeper Tommy Setford, who is under 21, may be sent out on loan to gain more experience.

The acquisition of Meslier would add depth to Arsenal’s goalkeeping squad as the team prepares for the upcoming season. Discussions are ongoing, with both the club and player reportedly keen to reach an agreement.
