Arsenal have secured the signing of Greek winger Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge in a deal reportedly worth £34 million. The 24-year-old has committed to a five-year contract with the Premier League club as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the upcoming season.
Tzolis, who previously played in England with Norwich City from 2021 to 2024 without much success, revitalized his career after moving to Belgium. Over two seasons at Club Brugge, he delivered an impressive 43 goals and 45 assists in 108 appearances. His performances earned him the Belgian Player of the Season award last term, underscoring his impact in the league.
Arsenal plan to deploy Tzolis primarily as a left winger, a role that also served former Gunner Leandro Trossard before his departure to Besiktas earlier this month. However, Tzolis’ versatility allows him to operate in the number 10 position as well. He is known for his ability to cut inside effectively and create scoring opportunities, having led the Belgian top flight last season in dribbles completed and chances created. Notably, 52 of the 135 chances he generated were from set-piece situations, a skill Arsenal hope will benefit their attacking strategy under set-piece coach Nicolas Jover.
Tzolis has taken the number 17 shirt at Arsenal, famously worn by Alexis Sanchez, and his stocky build and goal-scoring instinct have drawn comparisons to the Chilean forward. Having already appeared in pre-season matches with Club Brugge, he is expected to integrate swiftly into Arsenal’s squad as they prepare for their forthcoming fixture against Girona.
