Arsenal Women have strengthened their squad with the signing of Spanish goalkeeper Misa Rodríguez on a free transfer. The 27-year-old arrives from Real Madrid, where she spent the past six years, as the club continues to bolster its roster ahead of the new Women’s Super League season.

Rodríguez joins a team that has been actively recruiting talent, having already secured Georgia Stanway from Bayern Munich, Selina Cerci from Hoffenheim, Ona Batlle from Barcelona, and Géraldine Reuteler from Eintracht Frankfurt. Arsenal finished second in the league last season, four points behind Manchester City, and are looking to close the gap on the reigning champions.

Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in July 1999, Rodríguez began her youth career with CD Femarguin before moving to Atlético Madrid in 2017. She later joined Deportivo La Coruña ahead of the 2019-20 campaign, where she emerged as one of Spain’s most promising goalkeepers, playing a key role in the club securing a fourth-place league finish.

In announcing the signing, Rodríguez expressed her enthusiasm about joining Arsenal, calling the club "one of the top clubs in the world" and emphasizing her desire to help the team compete for trophies alongside the club’s supporters.

Arsenal head coach Renée Slegers highlighted Rodríguez’s consistent high-level performances and praised her technical skills, on-field presence, and communication abilities. Slegers indicated that Rodríguez would integrate into the existing goalkeeping lineup alongside Daphne van Domselaar, Anneke Borbe, and Isabella Damm, further strengthening the team’s defensive options.
