The New York Giants have commenced their 12-day training camp at the Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, marking the first time since 2012 that the team is holding camp outside their East Rutherford, New Jersey, facilities. The move comes amid a multiyear expansion of the Giants’ New Jersey training complex and follows the recent use of MetLife Stadium for the 2026 World Cup, which temporarily displaced the team’s traditional preseason operations.

The Greenbrier Sports Performance Center, located within the 11,000-acre resort in the Allegheny mountain range, offers the Giants a comprehensive setup designed to closely replicate their home practice environment. The facility includes two grass fields, a FieldTurf field, meeting rooms, offices, a training room, and a fully equipped weight room—amenities that surpass what the team had during a relocation to Albany, New York, in 2012. While the Giants brought several items from New Jersey, such as their scoreboard and key field equipment, much of what they require is already in place, reducing logistical complexity.

The relocation and preparation process was coordinated by the Giants’ staff in collaboration with the Greenbrier and informed by consultations with other NFL teams who have utilized the resort, including the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, and New England Patriots. Megan Rosburg, an assistant coach and lead on the relocation project, emphasized meticulous planning to ensure players and coaches could focus entirely on football once on-site. The choice of the Greenbrier was driven by its established NFL-caliber facilities and experience hosting professional teams and events, including the 2026 World Cup guest team, Iraq’s national soccer squad.

Nutrition and player comfort were focal points throughout the transition. Matt Frakes, the team’s director of performance nutrition, oversaw the replication of the New Jersey menu and individualized meal plans, accounting for allergies and performance needs. Coordination extended to shipping specialty products such as protein shakes, electrolytes, and snacks to support the team’s two-week stay. The Greenbrier has provided meal tents for daily dining, with its culinary team working closely with Giants staff to meet exacting meal standards.

The camp also aims to maintain a familiar fan experience despite the change in location. The Giants have organized open practice sessions with autograph signings and giveaways, projecting attendance between 1,500 and 2,000 fans per session, mirroring traditions from New Jersey. Carey Bald, senior director of events and game day operations, highlighted efforts to recreate the team’s signature fan engagement at the new site.

On the football side, head coach John Harbaugh, recently hired in January and not involved in the original decision to relocate, described the camp as an effective opportunity to deepen player relationships ahead of the regular season. Practices balance rigorous on-field work with team-building activities, supported by the resort’s recreational offerings such as golf courses, swimming pools, and other leisure amenities.

Players first reported to the East Rutherford training facility for preliminary conditioning tests before flying to West Virginia, where they immediately began practice sessions. Despite the nearly 500-mile move, team leadership views the new setting as beneficial to preparing for the upcoming season while fostering cohesion on and off the field.
