Ashford United and Horley Town played to a 2-2 draw in a lively Division One South East encounter on Saturday. The match saw early momentum swings and a competitive battle throughout at Ashford’s home ground.

Horley Town opened the scoring in the fourth minute when Yaw Antwi-Boasiako set up Elijah Simpson, who netted his first goal for the club by firing across the goal into the net. However, Ashford quickly responded with two goals in as many minutes before halftime. Michael West equalized with a well-placed long-range strike, followed shortly after by Gary Lockyer’s effort that put Ashford ahead 2-1 heading into the break.

The second half remained open, and ten minutes after the restart, Horley Town leveled the score. Kavalli Heywood’s free-kick created an opportunity, with Simpson forcing a save from Ashford keeper Jordan Gillmore. Joe Bell was quickest to react and bundled the rebound home to draw Horley level.

Both sides had chances in the closing stages, but neither could find a winner, resulting in a shared point for the teams. Jack Dixon of Ashford was noted as a standout performer. The draw leaves both teams looking to build on their performances as the season progresses.
