Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is set to launch a comprehensive series of infrastructure and public service projects as part of its second package of development initiatives outlined in the country’s Internal Achievements Book for 2025-2026. The planned works will focus on upgrades across education, healthcare, urban beautification, and energy efficiency sectors.

Among the key education projects, Ashghal plans to implement fire safety enhancements at 50 additional schools and construct new classrooms at 16 schools. The authority will also oversee the demolition and complete reconstruction of two schools—Muadh bin Jabal School and Rawdat Rashid School. Facilities at the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) in Lusail will undergo significant renovations, including improvements to façades, entrances, courtyards, boundary walls, and gates to better serve both male and female students.

Sports infrastructure development is another priority, with planned upgrades intended to support Qatar’s preparations for the Asian Games Doha 2030. Additionally, healthcare infrastructure will be bolstered through enhancements at Ras Laffan Hospital.

In coordination with the Ministry of Finance, Ashghal will tender new projects covering the development and maintenance of sports facilities, healthcare centers, and new public buildings. These efforts aim to improve the operational efficiency and capacity of various public institutions.

Urban beautification forms a major part of the upcoming programme, including the construction of an outdoor air-conditioned walkway and landscaping improvements at Qatar University to enhance the campus environment and pedestrian accessibility. The authority also intends to establish six neighborhood parks across multiple areas: Umm Al Abiriyah, Umm Qarn, Al Khor, Al Thakhira, Al Saja, and Al Thumama. Complementary landscaping works are planned around the Passports Building in Al Tarfa and the Civil Defence Building in Al Jumailliya, alongside the addition of a pedestrian walkway around Al Karana Village.

Additional projects include the installation of lighting for the Unity Arch and the development of an advanced nursery facility in Al Thumama. Ashghal plans to issue tenders in 2026 and 2027 for the design and construction of several parks, landscaping, irrigation, and related support works.

Emphasizing technological innovation, Ashghal will introduce digital twin technology for drainage networks to enhance asset management and enable more proactive maintenance through improved operational insights. The authority also plans to establish a solar power station with a 2.2-megawatt capacity at the North Doha Station, advancing Qatar’s renewable energy capabilities. Expansion of LED and smart lighting systems is slated to reduce energy consumption and improve the management of public street lighting infrastructure.

Together, these projects illustrate a broad commitment to strengthening Qatar’s public infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and urban living standards in the coming years.
