Ashton United secured a convincing victory at Hurst Cross after overturning an early deficit against Lancaster in their recent fixture. The visitors opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Joe Amison delivered a deep cross following a penalty-area incident involving Jim Craig. Sekouba Sanogo rose at the far post to head Lancaster ahead.

Ashton responded before halftime, equalizing through debutant Reece Kendall. After a succession of corners, Alex Byrne delivered an outswinging cross from just outside the box, which Kendall deftly controlled before firing home with his left foot.

Shortly after the break, Ashton United took the lead for the first time. Byrne again orchestrated a corner, this time met by centre-back Nathan Okome, who found space unmarked and calmly headed the ball into the bottom corner past the goalkeeper.

With momentum on their side, Ashton applied pressure. Harvey Hayhurst’s delicate threading pass found Weston at the back post, who forced a save from the Lancaster goalkeeper, Wright. Ashton’s follow-up attempt was cleared off the line, and a subsequent long-range effort from the visitors rattled the bar.

Lancaster’s resistance soon faltered further. In the 64th minute, Harvey Roberts capitalized on a through ball that dissected the visiting defense, leaving him one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Roberts then composedly finished to extend Ashton’s lead.

Seven minutes later, Ashton United doubled their advantage. Kendall crossed from the right wing, and although Darius Osei’s initial shot was blocked by Lancaster defender Lufudu, Dylan Cogill was quickest to react and converted the rebound from close range, sealing the outcome.

Ashton’s ability to turn the game around and maintain sustained pressure after conceding early allowed them to secure a strong win on home soil, highlighting their attacking resilience and set-piece effectiveness.
